Crash on York in Bensenville

BENSENVILLE, IL – Two males were killed this afternoon when their car slammed into a tree in Bensenville, tearing the vehicle into two, authorities said.

One of the victims was a 16-year-old boy.

Bensenville police say the two victims were in an orange 2002 Honda convertible speeding north on York Road beside a second vehicle when it lost control, flew off the roadway and into a tree in the 200 block of South York Road.

Emergency crews who arrived at about 4:13 p.m. found the Honda sheared in two with one of the occupants dead at the scene, according to the police news release.

The second victim, the 16-year-old, was taken to Loyola University Hospital in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead at 4:56 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Neither victim had been positively identified, police said.

The second speeding vehicle, described only as a dark-colored auto, continued north on York Road without stopping.

Police were working with the DuPage County Accident Reconstruction Team to gather additional details on the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (630) 350-3455.
